Top Billing presenter Janez Vermeiren and the team from SABC 3 breakfast show expresso will ride in the Cape Argus Pick n Pay cycle tour as part of the Pick n Pay like Bike campaign with cyclist from the Velokhaya cycling academy. Velokhaya is a non-profit organisation based in Khayelitsha which uses a range of holistic, education-based cycling programs to give children from disadvantaged backgrounds the skills and opportunities to improve their lives. Supporters can get involved in different ways: they can do the 1 minute dash on the Facebook page or Pick n Pay website,ride the spin bikes at the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Expo, donating Smart Shopper points or they can sign up to be a Velo rider and Pick n Pay will donate money for every rider who completes the full 109 kms on Sunday.
after a visit to the academy he said he would love to do more for the the academy as it provides a safe haven for the kids as they interact with kids their age and talk about positive things and urged the community to support it.
