For me working in magazine was something that I never thought in my wildest dreams I could ever do. I am a first time contributor to the magazine.
I am a recent UCT graduate, a Science degree to be exact. Coming from a Science background and diving into a totally new field and environment was a bit overwhelming for me. One minute I was calculating statistical theorems and looking at bacteria under a microscope and the next I’m writing articles for a Magazine!
After finishing my degree I absolutely had no idea what I wanted to do next, but what I knew for sure was that I did not want to work in a scientific environment. When I saw that LIVE magazine was looking for new contributors I jumped at the opportunity. I have always wanted to work in media but because I was always good in Science at school, I just stuck with it.
I won’t lie, I’m still adjusting to this new environment. I’m still learning new things everyday about the wonderful world of journalism!
There is never a dull moment at the LIVE mag offices. There is always a sound of laughter somewhere (usually the YouTube team), even with deadlines approaching and things get more and more hectic.
The decision I made to come work for LIVE was a brave one but I do not regret it AT ALL!
