Spaza has become an urban movement of young and inspired vernacular rappers, singers and poets. Hip Hop Kaslam has for the last three years been the leading Spaza platform, showcasing artists like the nationally renowned Driemanskap, the multi-talented Sugah and veteran artist Dat,one of  the first emcee to spit a verse in Xhosa back in 1995.

Hip Hop Kaslam rocked the Baxter Theatre Concert Hall on the 2 March 2013 in a musical celebration of home-brewed hip hop that depicts township life through the eyes of kasi bred performers..

This seventh performance of the Hip Hop Kaslam show is titled iFreedom Yethu meaning “our freedom” in Xhosa.
