Two wardrobe changes in a matter of seconds with three assistants dressing and undressing Phetogo left him feeling like a king. Backstage SAFW (South African Fashion Week) was a craze he had hoped for this young modelling career. At 22, Rustenburg bred Phetogo is signed to Boss Models and studies Civil Engineering at Tuks. After brushing off advice to attempt modelling, from friends, Pats was approached by model agent (Bridget Zuma) on campus late last year. Bridget wanted him to model in a fashion show and charity event (Te Amo) she was organising. He agreed and then set his sights on earnestly pursuing modelling.

Pats does not consider himself a show pony but admits at taking pride in his appearance and enjoying a good workout. Despite physical requirements Phetogo is aware of the non-physical characteristics all models have in common; these include self-confidence, self-awareness, persistence and patience. He adds, “If there’s anything you can be sure of in this industry, it is that you will do a whole of waiting.”

In less than a year, he has managed to reach his SAFW goal. “There was a point where I second guessed whether I was prepared for the task ahead, but I said a prayer and realised that this was the perfect time.” Phetogo continued. Regardless of his modelling success he plans on pursuing a career in Civil Engineering, saying “I have a passion for building things. I believe good infrastructure is the back bone for economic growth and stability, and so I would like to play my part in the sustainable growth of our beautiful country.”
