It pushes local hip hop, giving up-and-coming artists the opportunity to showcase themselves. It’s an experience based on urban lifestyle, people who like to experience different environments, and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. It’s the party you go to before the real party (the starter party). Pop Bottles does not have a VIP section just because DJ Dimples, the organiser, does not see the need to have one. He claims it kills the whole concept of unity and staying away from the normal club scene.

The idea started as a birthday party in 2008 by Dj Milkshake, Vigi, Sphectacula, and Naves. Taking place on a Sunday afternoon, it’s also an experience that allows socialising and networking before the night life experience.

The deejay line up At Shimmy Beach Club in Cape Town was Milkshake, Vigi, Dimplez, Naves, Sphectacula, Lyle, Groove Afrika, Lloyd and JJ Fresh. The experience was fueled by Miller in association with Vuzu. We decided to go, camera in tow, to see what people were wearing.
