Mlunghisi ‘Lungi’ Manganyi is a 19-year-old strategic corporate communication student at the University of Johannesburg. He describes himself as a lover of nature, philosophy, and literature with a keen interest in art and poetry – he carries his notebook everywhere he goes. He’s also a fan of sports, mainly rugby.
When asked what he believes is the difference between fashion and style and what his definition of style is he says, “Fashion is given, style on the other hand is what you choose from that fashion. My personal philosophy on style is that, it is not just clothing, it’s so much more than that.”
He credits rapper Kanye West and Keeping Up With The Kardashians reality star Scott Disick as his style inspiration. He considers local model Maps Maponyane as the most stylish man in South Africa.
When asked what he would never be caught dead wearing he says a leather kilt. “I know Kanye wore one, but no…” he shakes his head. He advises young male students with lacklustre style to wear whatever it is that represents your inner being, “Let your wardrobe be an extension of your soul.” he quotes Ezra Mokgope.
