The political rumor mill has generated a new one – the possibility that a new coalition may be on the cards. At first, the parties in question remained numb on the issue or didn’t confirm nor deny the claim. But before the wind blew this one out of proportion the EFF set the record straight by rubbishing any idea of a partnership between the red berets and the party in blue.
The DA has such a huge crush on us, they even printed a flyer just to spread malicious rumours about the CIC.

The DA and Agang SA (another new party that recently burst onto the scene) were going to partner up in February but the engagement was broken off even before it reached the altar. A record beaten only by the couples of Hollywood. But this marriage seemed like one of true minds. A partnership like one between Jet Li and Chris rock, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith and chocolate chips atop of a cookie – okay, you get the point. Generally, a whole lot more likely than an agreement between Malema and Zille… but hey, stranger things have happened.
An unlikely partnership
Back in 2010, Malema called Zille “a cockroach who must be voted out of power” – but hey that was also when Zuma and Julius were buddy-buddy. A coallition between the EFF and DA would be chaos. According to the EFF, it’s not going to happen. You are more likely to be able to buy a Masala steak gatsby from Kauai.
So, what would happen if the DA and the EFF were to hook up?
Enter the Democratic Alliance of Economic Freedom Fighters. Gauteng is the richest province and has more than six million registered votes. It’s a jackpot of a province for a political party. It’s hard to win though– a party will have to ensure 51 percent of the vote to get an outright win of Gauteng. Therefore the EFF and the DA have very similar goals BUT their policies are vastly different. Like all marriages, the basis would be one of compromise – in this case a whole lot of it. You can forget about awkward silences in this relationship though– can you imagine a disagreement between Zille and Malema? The questions of who would run the province, who would be on top still remains?
Julius, you may now kiss the bride

We hear that the DA is trying to flirt with us. Our natural charm seems irresistible. #VoteEFF

We will have to see how long the flirtation goes on, how long the EFF can reject the DA’s advances and if the parties can resist temptation. It’s all about the hotly contested Gauteng province currently governed by the ANC and ultimately, it all boils down to how much these parties want to snatch the province from the ANC’s hands.
