The lady that has had the ANC up in arms after her damning report has something else to be proud of. Thuli Madonsela has made the Time’s Top 100 most influential people’s list. Madonsela and her team have been involved in investigating and reporting of many things this year. Her report showing that the President misused public funds for his own personal homestead has been a hot topic amongst South Africans. Now the work of her and her entourage is not only recognized on South Africa but elsewhere too.
Madonsela was reportedly surprised and humbled by the news.
“It is an acknowledgement of the selfless efforts of the public protector team at large,” she said
Madonsela will continue to bring culprits of maladministration and corruption to book.
Women are becoming more influential
With women, all over the world wanting to be considered equal to men (but sometimes not on a date though) this year’s list has some more good news. Women seem to be becoming more influential with a record-breaking 41 females on the list. Among them the it-ladies such as Hilary Clinton, Malala Yousatza, Serena Williams and Beyonce have all been recognized for their contribution and influence to politics, culture, sport, and music. Miley cyrus is also featured – much to the horror of your parents.
This is triumph for women everywhere (not the Miley Cyrus part though).
Madonsela, along with the other people selected for the list, have been invited to attend the Time 100 Gala in New York on Tuesday, April 29, where the list will be officially announced.
The full list will be published in 5 May issue. View more here: http://time.com/time100-2014/
