All positions are unpaid internships, for work experience only. Transport is provided for full-time interns, and all content-related expenses are covered. Internships run on a three-month cycle, and require a 3 or 4 day/week commitment in Cape Town. We also welcome contributions from 18 to 25 year olds across South Africa.
All interns are offered career counselling, CV and portfolio editing, opportunities to network with and learn from relevant media industry professionals, and assistance with further employment or education placements after program completion. Participants gain on-the-job experience in a real working environment, creating industry-standard content for a national audience of their peers. All activities take place under the guidance of a team of media mentors, all of whom are working professionals in their respective fields.
Our family of Live SA digital platforms – website, YouTube channel, Google +, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram has helped us reach almost 10 MILLION young people in 2014 so far. Some of our former contributors have gone on to work for eTV, British Council, 140 BBDO, SABC2, Highbury Safika Media, and Zalebs, among others.
