I went to Khayelitsha to visually represent a community project, Baphumelele, and left having met an inspiring member of the organisation. This is a photo essay that depicts the work that John Cishimbi, a Congolese immigrant, is doing to make a positive change.

I was inspired by John, who has worked hard to become a qualified nurse. He is someone who has endured much hardship yet he has chosen to provide such a valuable service to our community. He told me that one day he will take this model back to his own homeland, hopefully in more peaceful times.
