DJ Clock is still riding the “Pluto – Remember You” wave with Beatenberg which was the anthem last summer and is still heating up South African dancefloors. I sat down with the hitmaker before his highly anticipated  set at the Cape Town World Music Festival.

LIVE:What do you think of the festival so far?

DJ CLOCK: It’s my first time coming here for this event. Like I said earlier, I don’t regret. I am enjoying this show. I am learning. There’s no kind of vibe like this in Joburg, man. If we can introduce this type of event in Joburg, I think people will appreciate it. It’s something new and I love this.

LIVE:How different is performing in Cape Town compared to Jozi?

DJ CLOCK: The scene is different here than in Joburg. So, I’m learning. I’m here to learn like just as we speak, the DJ who is playing right now (DJ Mighty) is doing something different — broken beats and bass and drums. I can see people are enjoying it. So for me, it’s cool to see.

LIVE: What do you enjoy most between being in studio making the music and performing live?

DJ CLOCK: Both sides. I enjoy creating something new in the studio and I enjoy seeing people dancing to what I have created. So, both sides complement each other. At the end of the day, you need to see the success of what you have created, which you will see on the dance floor. But, to create something new, you need to be in the studio so you can see how far your powerful mind can go.

LIVE:Are you working on any new material?

DJ CLOCK: Since I have released six CDs with seventy-one songs in one package, I’m not sure  when I am going to release my next album because I am still trying to push this one. There are a lot of songs there which are beautiful so I want to just push them. At the moment, I am focusing on pushing Pluto with Beatenberg and it doesn’t allow us to put out another album at the moment. So, this year is all about pushing Beatenberg. But, people here must watch out. I want their support. I will make sure that I will come back with another hit, another banger. These days, I am still working on new material. I do work. I am not stopping. As we are speaking, I was working with other artists like Bantu Soul, Professor, and people are asking me to do collaborations with them. So I won’t stop. I am always in studio. That’s my drug, man.
