Eighteen-year-old Nickoleen Pienaar lives in Bo-Kaap Kraal – an informal settlement situated in Cape Town’s CBD.  Nickoleen, also known as Nicky, failed her matric last year (2013) but she is rewriting her exams this year (2014) in November. In the meantime, she runs an after-school program where she helps pupils with their homework and plays with them. This community is characterised by drugs, alcohol, and robberies. Nicky plans to keep the kids away from these bad habits.
