Environmental organisation 350.org recently held a dialogue with their African counterparts to discuss issues around climate change.
Their website describes the meaning behind their name as follows: “The number 350 means climate safety: to preserve a livable planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current level of 400 parts per million to below 350 ppm.”
May Boeve, executive global director of 350.org, spoke to LiveSA about their work and the impact of climate change on the continent.
At only 31, Boeve is already an important environmental voice of our generation as she does not use complicated terminology or try to scare us, instead she tells us the truth, and gives us a way to help join the fight.
