Rofhiwa Maneta, a writer based in Cape Town is releasing his self-published book at the end of the month. The book will be called Metanoia, and is a collection of short stories Rofhiwa, who’s originally from Jozi, wrote since moving to Cape Town in 2014.
“Initially the book was meant to be a sacrilegious bible (hence the title – metanoia means repentance in Greek) but I decided against it after showing it to a couple of people,” Rofhiwa says. “Now it’s just a book of loosely connected short stories – mostly about life in Cape Town as a black dude. So there’s stuff about not getting a place to live in because I’m black, there’s some stuff about men being trash, and the longest story is about a dude who has a mental breakdown and gets committed to a psych ward in Milnerton (suburb in Cape Town).”

The excerpt he reads details what sounds like a morning after a one-night stand with a woman by the name of Zinhle. We won’t spoil it for you, you have to hear it yourself.
