South Africa now boasts the most beautiful woman in the universe, beating, according to the title, women from over 100 billion galaxies.Last night, 22-year old Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe at a ceremony in Las Vegas.
She is the second South African to take home the title, the first being Margaret Gardiner who won the title in 1978.

1. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is from the small town of Sedgefield in the Western Cape.
2. She has a BCom in Business Management and Entrepreneurship from the North-West University.
3. The 22-year-old wants to use her reign to champion HIV/AIDS awareness. “”HIV/AIDS is a very big problem in my country South Africa, so I hope to stand as an advocate for that.”
4. She previously won Miss Varsity Cup 2015 and was in the Miss Teen top 5 finalist in 2010
5. She is inspired by her younger sister who is completely disabled because she was born without a cerebellum.
