SABC 1 together with Aviwe Media is bringing a 13 part docu-reality youth show onto our screens called Kulcha Kwesta . The show is encompassed around young South Africans aged 18 to 30 years old  as they go on a personal journey to experience and understand their culture. What’s different about this show though?

Sane Zondi, assistant commissioning editor at SABC Education answers this question effortlessy in saying , “Culture is our values, belief systems and way of life; Kulcha Kwest, as the name says takes young people on a cultural quest.  We witness emotional journeys through case studies, as they experience, understand, engage and participate with their culture. The overall quest, at the end of the journey, shows how we begin to infuse tradition and culture into our modern lifestyles, so that it can evolve and still from an active part of our identity today. Culture can never be something old and of the past. It has relevance today, the challenge is how do we allow it to occupy our present.”

The show, which is filled with knowledge about different South African cultures, traditions and practices, as well as the significance of preserving our cultures as South Africans will air on our screens every Tuesdays at 18h30 to 19h00 from 14 May to 06 August 2013. The vibrant and dynamic Siyabonga Mdlalose will host this youth-driven show.

Be sure not to miss it!
