Are female artists becoming too sexual on stage?

So Miley Cyrus is now trending, all thanks to the shameful MTV Video Music Awards’ (VMA’s)  performance she had with the “Blurred Lines” hit maker RobinThicke. I’m quite startled that it’s only this performance to get tongues wagging.

This is a repetition of the same things that our ferocious, wild girl Riri does in every live performance. Lady Gaga has also had her sultry moves on stage along with a few of our most respected female artists worldwide. Locally we have Chomee who is known for her flashing outfits and her outrageous moves.

Having watched the former Hannah Montana child star who has now turned into a songstress performing at the 2013 VMA’s, one has to wonder as to how extreme these stunt haulers have become? We have seen our South African “virgin” Kelly Khumalo flashing her privates on stage, Chomee dressed in nothing performing for young crowds and even Azealia Banks who has her own blurred fashion sense.

One can question whether or not this can be culturally-influenced or if taking it to the extreme is some sort of attention seeking method, or an excuse to be considered the “unapologetic” kid on the block.
