What do you get when you take faultless avant-garde tailoring from Augustine and mix it with chic street styling from the Gold Street Society? AugustineGold!! These two prominent labels got together to bring us the best in high end fashion and the best in street styling. They recently threw an unforgettable event together with 4Elements Media and trust me it was one hell of a night.

The theme for the event was Street Chic. Look, I applaud people for trying. Not everyone entirely looked ‘street chic’ but those who did most definitely came through looking dapper. Dashiki and meggings were rocked with loafers to top off outfit. It was interesting to see as I never thought I’d see a guy in leggings but this was one night where my fashion knowledge was broadened.

Besides the guys in leggings on the other side we had girls looking gorgeous in Timberlands and snapbacks, showing off their flat stomachs in crop tops. I think some of the girls missed the memo and decided to look too street. I mean like don’t dress up kind of street. Okay fine some of them just looked a little cheap but hey that’s none of my business.

Another thing that stood out and always does when I’m at an event organised by 4Elements is the flawless, up-scale standard they keep up to. When I heard this launch was happening in the CBD I was steady waiting to witness glitches and the ratchedness down town people would bring. None of that happened in fact I felt like the Sandton life was brought right to my door step.

The DJ’s kept bringing in the heat song after song. The drinks kept flowing and the designs of Augustine Gold were placed in every corner silently in half body mannikin’s. For a second there I nearly had a conversation with one of these mannikin’s after my photographer had disappeared while I was talking to him.

I also waited to see if I was going to witness a runway show or something that would show me these designs without me taking my precious time staring at a plasma playing one promo video all night.  The designs were something really special, I wish I could have walked out with a top or two but all I got was a beanie, which the embroidery of actually fell of when my photographer and I fitted them. Which reminds me, I recall reading an email that promised me a goody bag and YO!! I got nothing.

On the clothing topic I was also disappointed that I did not get much information about the clothes on the night. I met one of the designers named Yianni and he still didn’t have time to tell me more about this awesome new collaboration. So it’s safe to say that besides this event and a press release I know nothing about these two brands.

I let all that stuff slide and decided to take trips around the Elevate Roof Top Venue and breath in all this greatness I was surrounded by. As usual the event was star studded for days. Tamara Dey and Da Les chilled together for a minute taking shots together and sharing a laugh. Les’s bodyguard I think wanted to shine more than him, he kept walking up to everyone and telling them to ask if they want to take pictures or want to speak to him. No problem at all, but Les was already taking pictures and talking to people so I guess he had the old brief.

Shashi Naidoo? Shashi Naidoo? Goddamn!! She came out looking blazing hot showing of her sexy legs in a dress that would have any guy feeling some type of way. She wasn’t the only one looking super fly in her outfit, Dj Doo-Wap also came through looking absolutely gorgeous dressed in the AugustineGold designs. While I was taking pictures of her I noticed a random wannabe celebrity who lost Survivor season something was just irritating the living daylights out of the beautiful Zuraida Jardine. She asked the most random questions trying to come up with content for her little blog to get hits while her drunk sister was shooting video with her phone, swinging left to right trying to find stability while in shot.

I also bumped into GQ Magazine writer Jordan Major who just had a drink said ‘hi’ to me and left. Maybe he wasn’t feeling that great, I assume. Brett Rogers who’s the Executive Director of 4Elements looked so Versace and street at the same time, don’t know how he does it sometimes but he’s always on point. The dance floor was thumping with the DJ making sure everyone left their VIP sections and danced the night away. I also decided to put my camera down for a minute or two when I heard that Caracara joint by K.O being played. I mean I saw Croatian models going buck wild for the song too so why would I be seated and miss the chance of dancing with such beautiful women?

All in all the event was one of those epic nights you’d relive at any time. The AugustineGold line is clearly set at breaking grounds with their new threads and made sure that their presence is felt with this launch. We Left the party sad and not only because of the beanie saga and the goodie bag but also the fact that the party was still heated when we walked out. I stared at the Elevate Roof Top Venue from the sidewalk, walking away and all I could see and hear was good times.
