This past weekend, Reason launched the remix to his song “Bump The Cheese Up” at Kitcheners in Braamfontein and it was off-the-hook! The venue was packed to capacity and there was dope music, beautiful women on site and the drinks were flowing.
The remix is a follow up to the original single, which features veteran emcee Tumi, “rookie of the year” GingerBreadMan and funny man Tall Ass Mo. The remix features AKA, OKMALUMKOOLKAT and Tall Ass Mo. We caught up with Reason at the launch to ask him about the success of the original single and his reasons for releasing a remix.

“First of all none of us believed the original was going to be big. When we first put this song up, none of us believed it would work. This is one time we thought the game wouldn’t understand what we were trying to do.” Reason says.
That wasn’t the reception they got from people. The song blew up and made waves, which is why Reason went on to do a very interesting remix. What makes it so interesting is the rappers he decided to feature. He featured commercial heavyweight AKA and alternative rapper OKMALUMKOOLKAT while again calling comedian Tall Ass Mo to do a verse on the song.

Speaking of the remix he explained that “this time around Tall Ass Mo felt that he needed to do a verse”. He goes on to say that “ AKA is one guy who has been telling corporates to Bump The Cheese Up, I feel like he has a lot to say and that’s the reason I wanted him to be on the song”. Which is true, the dude AKA has been voicing out his opinions about corporate companies and how little they pay artists. This song was a great platform for him to voice his opinions.
Lastly about OKMALUMKOOLKAT, Reason just said that “I’m just a fan! I thought it would be interesting to hear this guy’s flow on such a beat.” he adds.
And believe me it was definitely interesting to hear him at the launch . It was disappointing that OKMALUMKOOLKAT forgot his verse twice, but regardless it was a good show. AKA had a good performance and, as usual, DJ Akio was a problem on the decks, supplying good beats while the gang performed.

The remix is great and I believe it will be bigger than the original. Reason is definitely one of South Africa’s biggest talents. Keep your eyes on him. And, if you see his albums in the store, bump the cheese up and grab a copy. It’s definitely worth it.
