What if you could reset your life? Choose a new character, live in a new environment and play out your own destiny. In the RBG (role playing game) called life, 7.4 billion people compete for the utmost resources and to earn skillful and celebrated status.

Like most games, you set the difficulty mode. In the game of life which mode would you pick?

When creating my life I would pick the strongest character – the heterosexual white male. This character comes with natural armour of white skin, good hair and a sophisticated accent. The armour comes with many perks that makes it easier to gain points from other characters in the game. It can even be used as a weapon when need be.

My character is superficially regarded as more intelligent, more responsible and even cleaner than the other characters in the game. It is also the only character that comes with multiple expansion packs of different locations that are systematically designed to its benefit. Because I want to win, I would then pick any one of the beautiful places that are advantageous to my character.

In this game, my character also comes with built in cheat codes. These codes allow me to accumulate resources and status before I start playing. Starting out with resources allows my character to unlock opportunities and advance to higher levels quicker than anyone else. Because I’d rather not experience the awkward and bumpy lower levels of the game, I’d make use of my characters’ assumed authority (the ultimate cheat code).

Then I can finally begin playing.

I start out with private health care, level up to private schooling and graduate with a university degree, a car and a savings account… or just mom and dad. This is the armour that shields me from having to do jobs that are undignified and exploitative. Not that I would view them as such for others.

The networks I gained from my parents and education allow my character to advance faster in my chosen career. I can accumulate more resources such as property because, well, have you been paying attention to my life? 

My life is perfect, I’m on invincibility mode, while everybody else plays on the hardest levels without my perks.
