CONS Project is a series of global community projects designed to inspire the next generation of creative spirits through music, art, style and skate.
Following on from the success of similar initiatives in New York, Los Angeles and more recently Belgrade and Lisbon, Converse Sub-Saharan Africa announced the launch of CONS Project Joburg. The event took place at the corner of Melle and Jorissen Streets in Braamfontein. The event was a huge success and I personally think we need more events like these that will bring international pop culture influencers to our shores for more trade and skills exchanges.
Later on that week, I met up with members of the European Converse Skate Team in the streets of Braamfontein to capture portraits of their final day in South Africa.
Felipe is a young gun from Madrid, Spain. He’s relatively new on the international scene, but his raw ability and all-terrain prowess means that he’s sure to become a recognised name in European skateboarding. – Converse CONS Project Joburg
Born in Sweden, David has become the part of the new breed of skateboarders; young, stylish and powerful on any terrain. Huge transitions, skating street, on a ledge or rail; everything he does is trademarked by his great style. David is padre of the Polar Skate Co. that is taking the world by storm. – Converse CONS Project Joburg
Parisian skater, Remy Taviera, is down to skate wherever and whenever. He’s equally happy on street as he as he could be in some rough ditch. His enthusiasm and love for skating is immortalised in the moments he captures with his camera, as he is always documenting what is happening around him. – Converse CONS Project Joburg
