The annual cabinet report card of the DA reflected an ‘F’ for President Jacob Zuma. Parliamentary Leader of the DA, Lindiwe Mazibuko, posted a status on her Facebook account, saying that ‘President Zuma has failed South Africa.’

Also obtaining an ‘F’ by the DA was Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson, Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa and State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele.

Acting government spokeswoman Phumla Williams labelled the act as ‘mischievous and misleading’, as well as an ‘attack’ on the government, ‘aimed at discrediting its hard work and achievements’.

Zuma’s report grade was justified by Mazibuko, labelling his response to the Marikana massacre as ‘lacklustre’, among other things. Deputy President, Kgalema Motlanthe, was awarded a ‘C’. Mazibuko said that although Motlanthe had not been a ‘top performer’, he displayed noteworthy qualities which Zuma ‘clearly lacks’.

Top achievers awarded an ‘A’ included Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi and former Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor.
