A Daveyton mother has kept a foetus in a fridge freezer for three months. It has now been sent for forensic testing.
Allegedly, the woman stored the foetus, saying she was waiting for the cops to collect it as evidence in an assault case she had opened against her ex partner.
Alas, charges against the former lover have since been withdrawn. The Ekurhuleni mother also wanted to have a DNA test done on the foetus to prove that her then boyfriend was indeed the child’s father.
The hospital released the foetus, as the woman had indicated that she was going to bury it. At the time of her miscarriage she was 14 weeks pregnant.
Police questioned the mother of two in October and subsequently also took the foetus as evidence.
It is illegal to keep a foetus and the police hope to ensure that the foetus is the woman’s baby.
The woman could face charges once police investigations are completed.
