Okzharp is a London-based electronic musician. As 1/3 of LV (UK/HYPERDUB) he has released music on UK labels Hyperdub, Keysound, Souljazz, 2nd Drop and Hemlock collaborating with, and producing official remixes for, a wide range of artists. In 2012 LV’s second album ‘Sebenza’ was released on Hyperdub, featuring collaborations with South African vocalists OkmalumKoolkat, Spoek Mathambo and Ruffest. The anthemic title-track ‘Sebenza’ with Okmalumkoolkat was released as a single and was well-received on both sides of the equator, featuring a remix by DJ Clock and a video by photographer/film-maker Chris Saunders. This followed on from their kwaito-infused club banger ‘Boomslang’, also with Okmalumkoolkat, which was also released on Hyperdub with an eye-catching video by Mello Moropa and Justin McGee. Never tied to any particular scene or genre, Okzharp continues to explore the musical and sonic territories that connect his passion for London pirate radio sounds, world soundsystem cultures and futuristic soul music hybrids.
Zaki Ibrahim is described as a “citizen of the world” on her wiki page, having lived at different times in Canada, South Africa, the United Kingdom, France and Lebanon. She draws on this diverse cultural heritage and channels it into her fascinating, soulful music that is rich with unexpected vocalisations, hypnotic melodies and poetic lyricism.

Okmalumkoolkat is a vocalist, performer, writer, fashion-designer, film-maker, graphic designer and visual artist who is making waves with his unique, imaginative creations across the artistic spectrum. His starring role in LV’s Sebenza album brought him international recognition for his infectious, unpredictable flow and dazzling lyrical wordplay, dense with imagery and cultural references.
These three artists are coming together in a true representation of the collaborative spirit of this series. Okzharp and Zaki Ibrahim will rework Zaki’s songs and their own past collaborations, aswell as showcasing their new material. Then Okzharp and Okmalumkoolkat will blast off into re-imagined versions of their recorded collaborations, taking inspiration from their shared love of grime, gqom, bass, rap and kwaito to create something new in a live setting.
Special guests Dirty Paraffin will also be performing live in support, and between the acts OKZ Sssoundsystem DJs will be joining the dots between South London and South African sounds in addition to other outer national music.
