Gaynor Ingham, a graphic designer student and makeup artist from Kuilsrivier loves all things fashion, stylish and different. “I’ve always had an eye for unique things,” she said.
Since a young girl, Gaynor always wanted to be an artist. “I remember growing up saying proudly ‘when I grow up im going to be an artist’, not knowing at the time I’d grow up with a passion for styling.” Being a professional makeup artist and knowing how to style makes life so much easier for this young lady. “Styling and makeup artistry are two components that just compliment each other beautifully,” she added.
When asked who her style icon was, she quickly replied “my mom.” “Growing up my mom was actually my biggest style icon. If someone had told me that their mom was their style icon during my teen years I probably would have laughed. As I grew older I constantly found myself scratching in my mom’s closet for something to wear, even if it was just a belt to hold up those loose threads.”
Gaynor adores wearing loose flowy clothing with earthy tones and pops of colour from time to time. Being comfortable in anything she wears is her number one priority she explained. “Whether I’m wearing shoes or fancy clothing, being comfortable in what I’m wearing comes first.”
She easily listed five items she believes must be in her closet:
1. A jersey that goes with almost everything in your closet
2. At least one chunky necklace and a few rings.
3. One bright lipstick colour and mascara.
4. A-line dress in at least 3 or more colours/prints.
5. A simple black ankle boot.
Gaynor’s final thoughts on fashion is a quote she always keeps in mind when heading to a shoot or simply dressing up at home: fashion changes, but style is eternal.
