Do you ever feel as though politicians don’t recognise young people’s concerns? Have you ever wanted to have a face-to-face conversation with a political figure? Here’s your chance to get involved with “VIP Debate Club: Party People Edition”

So what is it?

This is an event for you to interact with policy and leading political figures concerning the issues we as young people face each day. We invite party representatives and leading political figures (let’s call them “Party People”) to have open and robust conversations with you in a comfortable setting as we discuss the youth political agenda. We want to challenge them on the promises they’ve made when they begged for our vote. This will be a two-way communication channel so we can effectively and non-disruptively engage on matters like unemployment, poverty, community safety, education and hold them accountable.

How will it work?

“VIP Debate Club: Party People Edition” will feature a single political party. In a debate format, we will pose a series of questions to the Party Person while also giving  the audience — that’s you —  the chance to ask hard-hitting questions to the Party Person. Our first topic is Youth Unemployment.

We are launching the debate club on 17 July in Woodstock  in collaboration with our friends at Open Space. The political party we’re focusing on will be the Democratic Alliance. Zakhele Mbhele, Member of Parliament and former media spokesperson for Helen Zille, will be joining us and answering all your burning questions.

We not only want the Party People to engage with us in our space but also party with us in our space. So after each “VIP Debate Club: Party People Edition”, we’re going to let loose with various DJs and artists the best way we can.

Entrance to this event is free, gratis, mahala! And you can register here or RSVP on our Facebook event page.
