Numsa’s expulsion from Cosatu has shaken South African politics, leaving many to wonder its effect on the tripartite alliance (made up of the ANC, SACP and Cosatu) as well it’s impact. Numsa was the biggest union under Cosatu – SA’s biggest trade union federation – with more than 232 000 members.
