Yesterday, Live headed to the V & A Waterfront to celebrate 67 minutes for Nelson Mandela on Mandela day. The Lalela Project in conjunction with Breadline Africa teamed up with the V & A waterfront to paint a container which will later be donated to Alpine primary school in Mitchell’s plain.
The Lalela project is an organisation that provides educational arts to young people affected by extreme poverty and aims to empowers the youth through arts.
These youths designed and painted fun, playful images on the external walls of the container which will be used as a library.
A further 27 libraries have been placed in some of the most impoverished schools in South Africa in hopes of encouraging young people to read more.
