The ANC Youth League is back. Having spent the last eight months battling liquidation in the South Gauteng High Court after an application was made by events company, Z2 Presentations, to have them sequestered for an outstanding bill of R15 million last November. They’ve come out looking like vintage ANCYL (after last week calling Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s office a kangaroo court). The R15 million bill was for the organisation of the national conference at which Julius Malema was elected ANCYL president in Bloemfontein in 2008. On Wednesday morning they announced that they’d made an out-of-court settlement for an undisclosed sum with the Bloemfontein-based events company shortly before the organisation’s National Task Team released a very jolly statement pointing out exactly how they’ve got their mojo back.

The NTT wishes to assure members and supports of the ANC Youth League that the organisation and the legacy of Anton Lembede, Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Oliver Tambo and Peter Mokaba are safe. The organisation will henceforth function according to its Constitution and not according to the court dictates. As the NTT we are grateful that this matter is over and undertake that under our watch and the future generation of leaders, the ANCYL will never find itself in similar circumstances. As the ANC Youth League, we appreciate the support from everyone who stood by us. In particular, we want to appreciate the membership of the ANC Youth League who remained loyal to the organization and had confidence in the NTT during these trying times.

Basically…
