Kendrick Lamar was crowned number 1 on the MTV’s hottest MC list. The Californian rapper beat artists including Nas, Rick Ross and Drake.

The criteria for the list include impact, lyrics, sales, buzz,  a unique rap style and the intangibles (star quality).
