A bomb exploded at a bus station on the outskirts of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, on Monday morning. The attack happened during the morning rush hour as workers were boarding the buses. The explosion destroyed dozens of cars and claimed more than 70 lives leaving bodies scattered all over the terminal.

Though no one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, Nigeria’s president Goodluck Jonathan blames Boko Haram. The President was quoted on aljazeera.com saying, “The issue of Boko Haram is quite an ugly history within this period of our own development,” he also added “But we will get over it… The issue of Boko Haram is temporary.”

Boko Haram (Hausa language for “Western Education is sinful”) has been blamed for attacks that have left 1500 people dead so far this year with the previous attacks claiming 19 lives just a few days ago. The terrorist organization seeks to turn Nigeria into a purely Islamic state and put a stop to what it deems “Westernization”.
