Olwethu-Thando Klaas is a 20-year-old freelance writer, research consultant, stylish public relation agent and a tutor. She was taught the foundation of dressing herself by her mother. She taught herself the elements of style through critiquing movie costume designs. She said,” I now like tasteful layering, fabric textures, colour coordination etc.” Klaas got her first taste of couture from the designer Luiz de Laja as well as Milk & Honey that made her conscious of the comfort and affordability South Africa brands boast.
Apart from her writing, Olwethu looks at her closet and sees herself most clearly articulated in queued-up stilettos, the folded-up pieces of colourful material, and the antiquated jewellery box laden with the collective masses of her pieces of awesome bling . She never leaves the house without her blood-red lipstick and thick liquid eye-liner, “They are awesome toppings to my day and night looks, they tie the apparel to an attitude to make-up activated,” she explained.
Her celebrity style icon is Victoria Beckham, who, she says is the embodiment of irrepressibly crisp classiness, sophisticated decadence and the epitome of fashion fad indifference last evident in Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel.
