Police brutality is once again on everyone's lips after 27 year old taxi driver Mido Macia died in a cell at Daveyton police station in the East Rand, after being dragged by a police van.

Police brutality is once again on everyone’s lips after 27 year old taxi driver Mido Macia died in a cell at Daveyton police station in the East Rand, after being dragged by a police van.He allegedly refused to obey police officers who had told him to stop blocking traffic with his car in Daveyton township’s main street.Video footage of the man being dragged by the police van went viral yesterday and the actions of the officers were condemned by President Jacob Zuma and National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega.”’Members of the SAPS should perform their duties with in the confines of the law” said the president and he described the visuals as horrific and unacceptable and that no human being should undergo such treatment.Commissioner Phiyega today announced that the officers involved in the incident have been suspended and the station commander has been removed pending an investigation.
