Race is always complex to discuss.  Still, it remains an important issue to continually deconstruct and, in the right company, can be exciting to debate. As the chief informant of the range of socio-economic opportunities any given South African had available to them in recent history, it’s important that we continually gauge whether race still influences how much access we have to opportunities today – in order to grasp how far we’ve come.

Have we taken significant enough steps on our path toward being the truly equitable, post-racial society we hoped to become in 1994? Thabiso Molatlhwa and Hymie Sokhupha spoke to some students in Braamfontein, Johannesburg this week about whether  or not they believe their race plays a part in their career prospects.
