Denim is EVERYTHING, its a moment one cannot forget, it sets the mood. It helps us to express ourselves flawlessly, with no fear or favour. Denim is the most versatile piece of clothing where everyone, wherever they are – can attest to how it has impacted their style forever. From dungarees, straight-leg, slim-fit, denim jacket and everything in between, everyone will always be covered by the cool trend.
With the power of denim to influence, we enlisted some of the recognisable and respected creatives in Braamfontein, Johannesburg to participate in our #mrpdenim shoot. Sam Turpin and Phindile Thengeni, were simply wonderful to photograph and style.
Sam Turpin

Sam is a 19 year old rapper and producer who brings cool effects to his ensembles. His looks are always daring with a strong emphasis on brightly coloured tops always matched nicely with a pair of denim pants and rad sneakers. With his latest song, Alexandrie from his extended play (ep) eternal sentiments which was well received by peeps. We believe this creative will go far and continue to grow in his career with his influence that will continue to shine through his fashion sense complemented with how he approaches music.
Phindile Thengeni

Phindi is a 24 year old stylist, model and respected creative in Braamfontein. She brings some sort of rebel element to her approach of dressing up! Her ensembles are always exciting with a bit of a shock element. I believe she doesn’t like to be defined as “normal”. One can call her an fashionable expressionist – who brings clothes to life! She is an avid wearer of denim and a fashion lover who always gives her ensembles some panache and attitude, which is inspirational.
It is almost unbelievable how denim has changed how we, all over the world, dress up (or down) and we always have fun doing so. Thanks to its inception in the 1800’s in the USA as miners and farmers wear, denim has a strong, versatile element to it which has helped it stand the test of time. As the years passed by many different styles of denim have emerged along the way. In the 1920’s denim expanded beyond its orgins and became known as a durable work wear staple extending to mechanics, factory workers and so on. Thanks to its durability and flexibility demin gave the masses much needed comfort and ease which continues this day. Bravo denim bravo!
Mr Price is positioning itself as the supreme leader of denim, thanks to its flair of styles and exciting variations they offer with affordability as key (thats so awesome), our readers are sure to look stylish all the time and will be able to create memorable moments that are as durable as denim is.
Mr Price fans were invited to share their artistic take on denim by means of film or photography. The brief was to interpret their connection to denim as literally or conceptually as they wanted. The result was an insane collection of images and video, celebrating fashion’s most iconic fabric.
For those who have not participated in this awesome and cool call out, don’t worry you can still submit your images or videos with the #mrpdenim hashtag. Once submitted you can see your original work featured in a gallery on mrp.com, as well on MRP’s social media platforms.

Finalists will be selected based on their interpretation of denim and it will then be put to a public vote, ensuring fans are involved in every step of the process.
