Our obsession with our gadgets is more worrying than what Julius Malema will say next. Here are six types of syndromes that prove that you are addicted to your phone.
1. Nomophobia
You want to go camping, but can’t help but worry about cellphone signal. That’s one way you know you have nomophopia. Short for no-mobile-phone phobia, it’s the fear of being without your phone. How did our ancestors survive it?

2. Phantom vibration syndrome
You reach for your pockets in search of your “vibrating” phone, only to find that your phone is not even in your pocket. Are you going crazy? Of course not, you’re just suffering from PVS.

3. Texting thumbs syndrome
It is excessive texting and scrolling through your phone, even while you feel that your fingers are taking strain.

4. Bent neck syndrome
Inability to walk, sit or drive without bending your neck over to reply to your Whatsapp or BBM texts and other instant messaging and social media platforms.

5. Touch screen illusion syndrome
You are so used to swiping on your cellphone that you end up forgetting to use buttons for non-touch screens and you swipe every screen you work on, even your old work PC.

6. Compulsive connectivity disorder
Desperate need to be constantly in touch and experiencing withdrawal when you can’t check your phone or respond to texts. Sometimes you lose it a little when no one is responding to your texts.
