“Encouraging children as well as adults to go beyond what they think is possible for themselves.”
Bambini Dream! – a Non-profit organization – was started by (co-founders) Daniele Retto and Tarryn Tomlinson in 2012, and is all about inspiring young kids to realize their potential and dreams. This is carried out by utilising music, art and healing to allow the kids to overcome their difficulties, as well as to realise their absolute potential.
Key player in the foundation and a lawyer who focuses on children’s rights, Stefano Marino (from Messina, Sicily) had joined and been onboard since April last year, and his role at Bambini Dream! is largely about growing the foundation’s page as well as making it have a great online media presence.
The first project was initiated on the 28th of January 2012, and the Imagination Workshop was set up in March 2012. Tarryn explains that the Dream Team felt a desire to do more for kids who hail from disadvantaged backgrounds in Cape Town; children who suffer due to social ills, such as poverty, abuse and neglect, all of which is and can be achieved by collaborating with other Non-profit organizations.
It is music therapy that allows the young child participant to employ sound as an instrument of non-verbal communication. The effect of the child partaking in music therapy is educative and rehabilitative in multiple pathological and para-psychological reasons. It is music therapy, the foundation adds, that can allow for a child to express his emotions. And I agree – what better way to heal than to make use of such a profound beauty of harmony?
The team makes it their aim to encourage and approach other musicians to help the cause as well by donating a song which will be able to be bought and downloaded from the foundation’s site. Bambini Dream! will also be having an art and photography division in the imminent future, and will auction off numerous art pieces that have been donated to the foundation by both artists and photographers, all for the purpose of building up funds. Make sure you don’t miss it!

I certainly salute everyone that is a part of the Dream Team. The world needs more people like them. It is important that each of us always remember that every bit of involvement in humanitarian projects’ helps. Putting a smile on a young and innocent child’s face can guarantee contentment for both you and that kid! We have the potential to change another person’s life, and it doesn’t take much to do so anyway. Begin today – get involved!
