Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa 2012 just took place in Johannesburg this past week, and as usual most of the city of gold was in a completely different world to say the least. It appears the famous fashion blogger, Scott Schuman, hit the streets of Jo’burg to see what the rest of the world is fast realising… That South Africa is where its at! Scott Schuman or The Satorialist who is famously known his Fashion Blog, The Sartorialist, that was launched in September of 2005 when he left his job as a Fashion Salesman to take care of his daughter( aaawww).

The man who has showed the world that he’s got an eye for pretty things wowed the everyone as his blog became bigger and bigger when major advertisers the likes of GAP Jeans, OVS, Gant, and Burberry on the social media- cum advertising, “The Art of the Trench” project. Clothing brands and designers started taking notice of this blog that could be a possible way to advertise, and considering the fact that he takes really good pictures as well.

So its obvious that if someone whose opinion a lot of people respect, designers, and major fashion houses were to hit the rainbow nation there would be a lot of movement and excitement for those hopefuls who would do anything to be appear on a blog that has pretty much become something of a world stage. While at attending the Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week he had a small intimate press conference and had a lot to say about the blogging world today,” You need to study like crazy and have an opinion. I hate to be harsh but I don’t have any gentleness for kids who can’t go on a site like style.com and look through all the pictures and critique them. If you say you love fashion then you need to be able to have an intelligent conversation about it. Blogging is free and it’s easy to start your own but what you put on it, your opinions and how you communicate it will determine how well you do. I think the level of ease that comes with creating a blog makes a lot of people drop the quality”, as he responded to an ELLE reporter.

To all the bloggers who think they know what they doing by just constantly reblogging things, take note from an O.G blogger whose blog is still going to be around for years to come.
