After the recent change in Chelsea’s technical management – the axing of  coach Roberto di Matteo following the Blues’ recent 3-0 loss to Juventus, a result that leaves the club’s Champion’s League immediate future in doubt – all eyes will be on the Blues’ forward Fernando Torres.

Notorious for his impatience with results, Chelsea boss and Russian business mogul Roman Abramovich is back to his antics of hiring and firing. And it remains to be seen whether Torres will survive the chop come January during the transfer window.

Abramovich, however, has moved aptly in appointing astute former Liverpool boss, Rafael Benitez, who’s known to admire Torres.

Affectionately referred to as “El Nino,” Torres was brought to the Bridge for a whooping £50 million transfer fee, after scoring the quickest 50 goals for Liverpool. “El Nino” left Merseyside in the summer of 2011, and has been carrying the “flop” tag since then, as he’s failed to score 20 goals in all competitions since then.

Meanwhile, striker Thierry Henry is reported to be returning to Arsenal for a second loan spell as the Gunners prepare to do without Gervinho, who will be playing for Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup Of Nations early next year.

Moroccan forward Marouane Chamakh, who’s a fringe player at Arsenal, could also be absent if Morocco select him.

Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger, has hinted that the move can materialise. “[Henry] has been practising with us. Three times. Will I sign him again in January? I don’t know – I don’t rule it out. I don’t know if he would be interested.

“This year we will lose Gervinho to the Africa Cup of Nations again, so we will be short – particularly if Chamakh goes.

“You know what he [Henry] gives you. He gives you hope, especially when he comes on. That is the most important thing.”
