Waseef Piekaan theatre performer, stand- up comedian and vocalist from the Cape Flats. He is now performing alongside known national artists and went international to perform at the Edinburgh Festival with “Vocal is Lekka”
He has been entertaining our crowds for years and is now reaping the benefits. For years he has been a local theatre performer, and vocalist entertaining the local crowds. Since last year December he broke into the professional market. Waseef Piekaan ran with “Vocal is Lekka” in Baxter theatre, and was one of the most successful shows in the Baxter. The Group was discovered by the directors of the Edinburgh festival to go to Scotland and participate. One of Theatre’s biggest festivals in the world.
Waseef Piekaan is not stopping here; he is now hosting his own stand- up comedy show called “Wrongly Accused” which is available at Computicket on the 19th October. Mr Piekaan is really a success story: “you shouldn’t be afraid to move out of your comfort zone and become inviting to other artist”, said Piekaan. Piekaan has always been and aimed to be an inspiration to other young people and has developed many young people from his community, having his own theatre group has made many changes in many people’s lives. Lives of the two lead performers of “Kat and the Kings” and many more. Now that’s someone to watch.
