With 105 entries over 37 categories with 5 judges on each category, this year’s awards ceremony promises to be bigger and better, and with the digital surgery it’s to receive – things are bound to be interesting. “After a fantastic year in South African music, the 19th Annual MTN South African Music Awards are sure to leave millions of people on the edge of their seats, starting with the nominations event on March 20. There will be shock, awe and surprises and we cannot wait for the weekend of 10 – 11 May 2012 at the Sun City Superbowl”, the MTN SAMA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi added.
Toya de Lazy’s Due Drop Deluxe album is the leading the nominations pack after receiving 6 nominations including Best Pop Album, Newcomer of the Year and the most treasured category where the public votes – Record of the Year. The Muffinz are trailing behind her with 4 nomination, whilst award winning Motwako sensation Khuli C hana is also a contender with his album Losy in Time with 3 nominations.
The awards will be broadcasted live to millions of viewers onone of the country’s favourite channel, SABC 1 on Saturday, 11 May at 20h30.
