Timeless Collective, also know as Timeless Vintage Clique is a collective of young creatives who are making an impact in the media, fashion and photographic industries. They have a goal of turning Pretoria into a fashion and style city. Here is more about this dynamic movement of creatives.

LIVE: How did the name ‘Timeless Collective come about and what does it mean?
TC: The name came about the realization of our different creativity skills, which is Timeless and not a matter of being creative for a specific season but we are creatives who show their outstanding talent through out all seasons or eras. We believe in that you can’t use up creativity the more, you use, the more you have.
LIVE: Who are the people behind Timeless Collective?
TC: The co-founders of Timeless Collective are Mapusha Mushe Trevor (aka Da BlaQ-Moss)(23) and Motebejane Thatiso (aka Ted Bunti)(24) who are both fashion stylists. Then Wonke Lepheana (aka Abucus Canvas)(20) and Tshepo Monyamane (Da Black Beanz)(21) who are both known for their creative photography skills.

LIVE: Timeless Collective‘s aim is to brand Pretoria as a fashion and style city. Why did you decide to create that perception about Pretoria? And is it working?
TC: Since we are based in Pretoria, we have seen the gap in the market to make Pretoria a fashion and style city. Yes, it is working as we have worked on several style meet and greet gatherings and photo shoots, where we discuss future trends for certain seasons. We also help each other in terms of understanding how fashion, media and modelling industry work. The turn out has been positive, but we still need help in terms of sponsorships from companies and any individuals in any way they can to make this even bigger.
LIVE: You say your long-term vision is to cross pollinate and create channels for local upcoming artists. How are you going to achieve this vision and what measures have you put in place to make sure this becomes a reality?
TC: We will achieve this through collaborations with other artists or creatives so that we all get to learn and share the different skills, knowledge and creativity which we have been blessed with. We work with aspiring models and assist them with their modelling portfolios (whether at the studio or outdoors) through photo shoots and using our contacts to help them get familiar with modelling agencies. We have also worked with a sock manufacturing company called skinnysbu socks, on a “5 by 10 campaign” where we sold a pair of socks to help raise funds. The aim of raising the funds is to build a proper orphanage in Kagiso in the Westrand, Johannesburg.

LIVE: How do you raise funds?
TC: We create armband accessories which are made from different materials like beads and cotton. We also personalise the armbands with anything the customer wants. Apart from the armbands, we design and sell vintage backpacks, stylish handbags. We achieve this by working hand-in-hand with fashion designers and tailors as we strive to be different.
LIVE: What inspires Timeless Collective?
TC: We are inspired by the little details that people tend to skip, like when we look at a wall, we don’t look at how high it is, but we look how the bricks connect. At the end of the day, we are artists and we believe that we ‘can’t fear any challenge brought towards us.
LIVE: What are the future plans for Timeless Collective?
TC: Our future plans are out of this world. We are looking at the fashion industry as a tunnel to a new plan. We want to work with big brands and companies in Mzansi.
