The Butan wear brand is slowly becoming one of South Africa’s most recognisable brands. The owner Julian created the brand after finishing an engineering degree at the University of Cape Town in 2006. He felt like engineering was not his calling and he wanted to do something he was passionate about. When he created the clothing brand he only had R2000 and a dream!

When asked about how he overcame the challenges he faced in growing the business he said “Without challenges there will be no growth. We need to make mistakes in order to learn. The important thing is not to make the same mistake twice”

The business started with T-shirts, now it has expanded to headwear, sweaters, hoddies and ladies tops. He dresses local artists like Driemanskap, Proverb, Slikour, Kwesta to name a few. The clothing brand is available in all major cities in South Africa and in Botswana (Gabarone).

Julian Kubel grew his business from the ground up, and he is certainly a force to be reckoned with.
